Ja Morant and Ziaire Williams both commenced their NBA journeys with the Memphis Grizzlies, with Morant joining the squad in 2019 and Williams coming onboard two years later in 2021. Since then, the two athletes have cultivated a profound relationship that transcends the basketball arena.

Nevertheless, the Grizzlies traded Williams to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this offseason. In a recent discussion with HoopsHype, Williams revealed his deep friendship with Morant, emphasizing the significance of their bond.

Williams didn’t merely focus on their on-court synergy; he also highlighted Morant’s persona away from the game. He recounted a heartfelt moment when Morant traveled all the way from Memphis to attend his camp in his hometown of Lancaster, California.

He flew all the way from Memphis just to come to my camp. As remarkable as he is on the court, he’s even tenfold better off the court,” he remarked.

Ziaire Williams Has Faith in Ja Morant’s Comeback Despite Off-Court Challenges

Ja Morant encountered a tough season last year, participating in only nine games owing to shoulder injuries and off-court issues. In spite of these hurdles, Morant has garnered steadfast support from his teammate Ziaire Williams. In a recent conversation, Williams expressed his views on Morant’s off-court difficulties.

Yeah, I mean, in the NBA, it’s really all about recency bias. He was just injured. He didn’t play last year, but they’ll remember pretty quickly,” Williams mentioned.

While the Grizzlies point guard has recuperated from his injuries, the legal complications stemming from an incident where he supposedly struck a teenager during a pickup basketball game continue to overshadow his career. This litigation, in which Morant’s lawyers contend that his actions were preventive, is anticipated to extend into 2025.
