This offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers made waves by acquiring Paul George in a major trade. This development created a much-anticipated trio alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, which heightened expectations for a successful season. However, the results have not matched the hype. Injuries impacting Embiid, George, and Maxey have thrown the team’s performance off course, leading to a disappointing record of 15-21 thus far.
The team’s difficulties were particularly evident during a recent 123-115 defeat against the New Orleans Pelicans. With Embiid missing from the lineup, the team felt his absence significantly. Following the loss, George candidly shared his concerns about his role on the court in Embiid’s absence.
“It’s different. I’m used to scrapping and running around and chasing, fighting through screens. To be honest, I’m bored. Playing on a five just don’t do enough for me,” George remarked.

“But I think, being mindful of my ability to clog the middle and help and cut off passing lanes and driving lanes, kind of battling with the bigs, is what Nick sees in that style. But I enjoy chasing the little guys and matching up against a wing,” he continued.
Paul George Urges Sixers to Adjust Without Joel Embiid
Paul George has emphasized the necessity for the 76ers to modify their strategy as they navigate challenges this season. Addressing the team’s play without Joel Embiid, George acknowledged Embiid’s significance but insisted that adjustments are essential in his absence.
“We’re definitely better with Joel out there. We’re better with the big guy in the lineup with us. But I think through it all, we’ve had some—I think KO (Kelly Oubre Jr.) missed a game or two in that, and Kyle (Lowry) has been in and out. Like, we’ve had a lot of guys in and out of the lineups during that stretch. But I think it comes down to us playing a little faster. We gotta play at a faster pace,” George stated.
George’s push for an increased pace of play could provide the necessary impetus for a turnaround this season. The question remains whether the team can implement these crucial adjustments.
