The Denver Nuggets are facing a tough beginning to their season. After a difficult preseason in which they posted a 1-4 record, the Nuggets have started their regular season with two straight losses. Nikola Jokic’s squad fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder with a score of 102-87, followed by a narrow defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers, 109-104.
This difficult start has already caused frustration for Jokic, who didn’t shy away from expressing his sentiments to the media. When questioned about the timeline for the Nuggets to resolve their issues, Jokic responded with a touch of sarcasm, stating he wished to find the solution “probably yesterday.”
It’s evident that Jokic and his teammates are eager to rectify their performance and secure a victory as they continue their road trip. When reporters inquired about what the focus should be for the next three games to end the losing streak, Jokic’s humor came through despite his frustration.
“Party every time when we go out. I really don’t know, my friend. We just want to win. We just want to win one game, and, uh, hopefully, we can do that on this road,” Jokic remarked.
Jokic Emphasizes Need for Improvement Despite Strong Individual Performance
Nikola Jokic is on track to break several records this season. Nonetheless, the Nuggets star is emphasizing that the team needs to elevate its overall performance, himself included. During the press conference, Jokic shared his thoughts on the team’s challenges and urged everyone to rise to the occasion.
“Just because I scored 40 today doesn’t mean I played good. I think we need to be better. I don’t think we need to question my patience because I’m with the guys. I’m not separate from them, so just because I scored a lot doesn’t mean I played good or bad; I think we all need to play better,” Jokic stated.
In the season opener, Jokic recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists in the Nuggets’ loss. The former MVP showcased an exceptional performance in the second loss, contributing 41 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
