NBA Icon Magic Johnson Issues Warning to Western Conference Teams About THIS Playoff-Ready Franchise
The 2023-24 NBA season kicked off on October 22, where every team played at least one game, with the Boston Celtics already having two under their belt. Numerous teams, such as the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, made significant offseason trades to elevate their rosters. Recently, five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson issued a cautionary note regarding a formidable super team in the Western Conference.
Many teams in the Eastern Conference secured NBA all-stars to enhance their championship prospects. Noteworthy additions include the 76ers signing Paul George and the Knicks acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns. In the West, the Denver Nuggets brought on Russell Westbrook, while DeMar DeRozan signed with the Sacramento Kings.
One of the most surprising trades this summer saw Klay Thompson leave the Golden State Warriors, where he spent his entire career, to join the Dallas Mavericks. Alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the four-time champion has helped create a superteam in Dallas. Following the Mavs’ first win of the season, Magic Johnson took to X to alert other teams about the Mavericks’ potential.
Johnson asserted that Western Conference teams “should be concerned” about the “playoff-ready” Mavericks. “Every team in the West should be worried about Dallas this season because the Mavs are built for the Playoffs,” he stated.
Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson Excel in Dallas Mavericks’ Win
The Dallas Mavericks launched their 2024-25 NBA season on Thursday against Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs, securing a 120-109 victory. Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson made a significant impact, combining for a total of 50 points. Doncic posted impressive stats with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Thompson knocked down six three-pointers in his first game.
The Mavericks will next take on the Phoenix Suns, setting the stage for a showdown between Luka Doncic and Devin Booker. This matchup is scheduled to take place at the Footprint Center on Saturday.
