The Charlotte Hornets faced yet another setback on Monday evening, suffering a narrow 107-112 defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers. The situation grew more serious when their star guard, LaMelo Ball, had to exit the contest due to a left ankle injury.
Following the game, Hornets head coach Charles Lee addressed the media, offering insights into Ball’s condition. He noted that the team was still in the evaluation phase regarding the injury.
“I know that they’re still obviously doing some evaluation. I think he shot the ball, was backpedaling to get it back on defense, and stepped on the foot, and so we’ll see what happens tomorrow as he comes in for treatment and stuff,” Lee remarked.

“But he did a great job of being in the locker room and being engaging as the guys came off the court,” he added.

The injury transpired after Ball executed a one-footed three-pointer. Unfortunately, while transitioning back on defense, he stepped on Jarred Vanderbilt’s foot, causing him to lose his balance, fall backward, and hit his head hard on the court. This unfortunate turn of events prevented Ball from returning to the matchup.
Charles Lee Urges Caution Following LaMelo Ball Injury
LaMelo Ball’s injury has now become a significant concern for the Hornets, who have depended heavily on his skill and dynamism this season. Head coach Charles Lee emphasized the need for diligent monitoring of the situation.
“LaMelo’s injury is definitely something we need to monitor closely. He’s been such a key player for us this season, and we just hope it’s not as serious as it looked. His talent and energy are irreplaceable, and we need him healthy moving forward,” Lee stated.
Prior to his exit from the game, Ball had managed to score 7 points, alongside one assist and one steal in the first half. His injury adds to the team’s struggles during what has already been a challenging season, and now the franchise is eagerly anticipating positive news regarding his recovery.
