Jasher Cox, the athletic director at Allen University, has declared his intention to resign from his role, effective August 10, 2024. According to a message shared on his social media, Cox is set to join Notre Dame as the Director of Regional Development.
In a sincere declaration released by the athletic department of Allen University, Cox conveyed his immense gratitude for the backing he received throughout his time in office.
“I wish to express my sincere gratitude to President McNealey, our student-athletes, devoted coaches, faculty, and staff for the privilege of leading them as their athletic director,” stated Cox. “The President’s cabinet and all others involved have been remarkable partners and collaborators.”
Since arriving at Allen University in September 2021, Cox has played an instrumental role in the athletic department of the university. During his stewardship, Allen University moved from NAIA affiliation to achieving full NCAA Division II recognition earlier this month—a significant milestone for the institution.
Cox’s time at Allen University has been characterized by numerous successes. He led the establishment of the nation’s second HBCU women’s wrestling squad, demonstrating his dedication to expanding opportunities for female athletes. Furthermore, he managed the installation of an advanced video board within the John Hurst Adams Gymnasium and the creation of a turfed practice area, guaranteeing that the university’s athletes have access to high-quality facilities.
Among Cox’s significant initiatives was the launch of a brand-new digital ticketing system, which further updated the university’s athletic operations. He also initiated a professional development series for student-athletes and coaches, highlighting the significance of ongoing education and development. Under his leadership, Allen’s varsity sports teams experienced enhancements in their victory counts, and many student-athletes graduated, showcasing his commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.
Cox publicly shared his transition to Notre Dame through a post on his X account. “Life is brief. Work in an incredible place. My family and I are thrilled to relocate to South Bend, as I’ve accepted the position of Director of Regional Development at @NotreDame. A heartfelt thanks to Beth Graybill for supporting me throughout this journey. I’m looking forward to collaborating with Shaheen Goldrick, Jerry Barca, and the entire development team,” he wrote.
