Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark recently marked her 23rd birthday, and her boyfriend Connor McCaffery took to social media to honor the occasion with a heartfelt post.
Posting several pictures of the couple, McCaffery wrote, “Happy 23rd CC (finally we’re celebrating together this year)! You possess an amazing talent for inspiring and uplifting those around you, and I feel fortunate to learn from you each day. Thank you for simply being you. I love you.”
The heartfelt tribute from Clark’s boyfriend is sure to resonate, as will her sweet reply. She commented, “Awh love you,” accompanied by several emojis.
Clark has been busy recently, having attended an NFL playoff game not long ago. However, in just a couple of months, all eyes will return to the court as she gears up for her second season in the WNBA.
As the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark has been instrumental in restoring the Fever to their former glory after several seasons of disappointing performances and playoff absences. The Fever did make it back to the WNBA playoffs this year, only to be swept in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.
However, with a stellar duo featuring Clark and Aaliyah Boston, as well as a new coaching appointment in Stephanie White, the Fever are set to continue their ascent in the WNBA.
This past season, Clark played in all 40 games for the Fever, averaging just over 35 minutes per game. She recorded an impressive 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.3 steals, shooting 41.7 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc, and an impressive 90.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Clark secured the Rookie of the Year Award, earned an All-Star selection, and was named to the All-WNBA First Team. Throughout her rookie season, she broke numerous WNBA records, including most assists in a single season, most assists in a single game, most points in a single season by a rookie, most three-point shots made by a rookie, and the most double-doubles by a rookie guard, among others.
Few WNBA debuts have been as highly anticipated as Clark’s. Leaving Iowa as the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, she consistently attracted large crowds wherever she played, a trend that continued into her rookie season in the WNBA. Fever fans are eagerly looking forward to her upcoming second season as well.
