The decision to trade a seasoned NBA player is generally not made on a whim. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks executed a surprising midseason trade, transferring Anthony Davis to Dallas. Despite being a critical component of the Lakers’ success over his five and a half seasons with the team, Davis reportedly learned of the trade only shortly before the Lakers made a public announcement.
In light of speculation suggesting the trade was conducted without prior notice to anyone, Davis challenged these assertions. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he refuted the notion that the Lakers’ management had concealed the deal completely.
“Everybody’s saying nobody knew and all this other sh*t. I just don’t believe it. But, hey man, I’m past that. I’m ready to move forward with Dallas; try to get a championship there with these guys,” Davis stated.

Davis did not specify any individuals, but his comments hinted that he might have been subtly alluding to LeBron James. Over the years, James has had a significant influence on crafting the Lakers’ roster.
Interestingly, reports indicated that James himself was taken by surprise by the trade. While dining with his family in New York, he first learned of the move and initially regarded it as a mere rumor.
Anthony Davis Ready For New Chapter In Dallas
“They wanted who they wanted. They did what they had to do. I don’t know if they had to, but it’s what they wanted to do. I moved on. I got a wife and kids to worry about, you know what I’m saying? And I’m figuring out how I’m going to get them to Dallas and get adjusted to that,” Davis expressed.
However, Davis faced a setback, suffering an injury during his first game with the Mavericks, which has caused him to miss six consecutive matchups. In his debut with the team, he recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists.
