As the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft draws near, teams are preparing for the highly awaited occasion that paves the way for the future luminaries of the league. Last season, Victor Wembanyama created a buzz as the top selection and proceeded to clinch the Rookie of the Year accolade in his inaugural campaign.

Presently, another budding talent from France, the 19-year-old Alex Sarr, is ready to leave his mark in the NBA. Standing tall at 7’1”, Sarr, a center akin to Wembanyama, is all set to stride onto the NBA platform.

Sarr’s basketball voyage commenced at the tender age of 4 in Bordeaux, where he was born into a basketball-infatuated family. His father, Massar, a former Senegalese basketball athlete, and his sibling Olivier Sarr, who is under contract with the OKC Thunder, have influenced his ardor for the game.

At 14, Sarr joined the Real Madrid basketball squad, following the path of distinguished alumni like Luka Doncic. His formative years in the sport have laid the groundwork for a promising NBA career.

At present, playing for the Perth Wildcats in the Australian National Basketball League, Sarr has exhibited his talents with noteworthy statistics in the 2023-24 season. His stint in the USA includes playing for Team Overtime and YNG Dreamerz in Atlanta before embarking on his developmental journey to Australia.

Sarr currently leads the race to become the number one selection in the draft, with the Atlanta Hawks holding the coveted top pick.

Which Team Will Potentially Land Alex Sarr?

In a draft class considered lackluster by pundits, Alex Sarr shines as a premier prospect. Spearheading the chase for the initial overall pick, Sarr is garnering attention as a probable game-changer for any team that secures his services.

While speculations suggest that Sarr could potentially be the fourth choice and join the Spurs, the likelihood is higher that he will be selected early in the draft owing to his talent and potential impact. As the draft day looms, all eyes are focused on Alex Sarr and his journey to the NBA.
