Nikki Spoelstra, the ex-wife of Erik Spoelstra, has released a sharp declaration in response to assumptions regarding her social media content being provocative.
During a recent surge on social media, Nikki Spoelstra posted a series of images on Instagram at the time when the Miami Heat were in danger of facing playoff elimination.
The initial picture depicted her relaxing in the sunlight, displaying her impressive physique in a sleek black bikini that highlighted her toned midsection. The last image in the series showed Nikki Spoelstra adjusting her posture to better showcase her bikini bottoms.
Speculation arose in the online community suggesting that her posts were not just aimed at the Miami Heat and her former husband but were also viewed as attempts to attract followers, often referred to as “thirst traps.”
Taking the opportunity this week, Nikki decided to clarify matters. Returning to Instagram, she delivered a direct response.
“Let’s put an end to the ‘thirst trap’ chatter, folks. I’m not engaging in that game. At 37 and with THREE children, my life has always revolved around dance—from a young age, to professional dancing, and teaching dance until I became a mother,” she conveyed on Instagram. “I have a deep passion for fitness, fashion, and styling, in addition to the nurturing roles I carry out.
“If you’re so curious about my past ‘thirst traps,’ why not take a peek at the Miami Heat dancers’ campaigns from 2005-2008 and evaluate if my ‘traps’ were truly captivating. I have a feeling, they most likely were,” she humorously put forward.
Afterwards, Nikki shared images of herself dressed in workout attire, displaying various perspectives of her physique along with a short video that offered a closer look at her form.
The Miami Heat’s season came to a surprising end with an early exit in the first round of the playoffs.
Nikki Spoelstra Claps Back at Critics Regarding Erik Spoelstra’s Lucrative Contract Renewal
Nikki Spoelstra felt the need to address the skeptics who sarcastically commented on her divorce with Erik Spoelstra, a two-time NBA champion coach, right before his significant contract extension.
Erik Spoelstra and the Heat finalized an eight-year contract extension reportedly worth about $120 million, as detailed by ESPN.com. This new deal was settled after their separation was announced.
Critics on social platforms wasted no time in ridiculing Nikki with remarks like “Nice move.” Nikki used her Instagram Stories to respond to her critics.
“LOL. I’m addressing these comments not in relation to my personal choices but as a reflection of a mentality I believe is common—and one that has been directed at me over time,” she wrote, citing a report from the New York Post. “Society seems to have a limited view: women are either deemed gold diggers if they are with a successful individual, or fools if they choose not to remain with a successful partner.”
The former couple announced their decision to divorce publicly with a joint statement in November 2023.
